Google Ads for SaaS
Octomize is a SaaS PPC agency that runs Google Ads for self-serve trials and sales-led demos. We split category, problem and competitor searches into their own campaigns, import activated trials, qualified demos and paid accounts from your product or CRM, and let Google bid on those. Budget follows the CAC payback you can fund, not the cost per sign-up.
What's included
People search for software in three ways. Category searches (“project management software”) come from buyers who know the type of tool they want. Problem searches (“track team hours across clients”) come from people who haven’t named the category yet and need a page that explains the fix. Competitor searches come from users of a rival tool, often ready to switch and expensive to win.
Each needs its own campaign, landing page and cost target. Google doesn’t restrict trademarks as keywords, but it can limit a competitor’s trademark in your ad text after a complaint (Google Ads trademark policy). Our guide to competitor keyword campaigns covers which rival searches to buy and when to cut them.
A sign-up goal teaches Google to find people who sign up. You want people who activate and pay, so we import those outcomes from your product database or CRM as offline conversions, tied to the original click. Self-serve products usually bid on an activation event. Sales-led products bid on qualified demos and closed deals. Our post on trial vs demo campaigns explains how to choose and how to stage bidding from launch.
SaaS volumes are small, and Google needs a steady flow of conversions to bid well. We pick the deepest event that still arrives often enough and move bidding one stage deeper as volume grows. The budget comes from your CAC payback period: what you can pay per customer sets what you can pay per trial or demo.
SaaS companies selling in the US, the UK and the EU. We plan bids and budgets market by market, since click costs and competition differ between them. See our Google Ads management page for how we run accounts outside SaaS.
How it works
We work out how much you can pay to win a customer from your price, gross margin and the payback period you can fund, then turn that into a target for each funnel stage.
We connect your product events or CRM so Google Ads receives activated trials, qualified demos and paid accounts, linked to the click that brought them.
Brand, category, problem and competitor terms go live as separate campaigns, each with its own budget, landing page and negative keywords.
We start on a conversion you get often enough to learn from, then switch bidding to activation, qualified demos or paid accounts once each has the volume.
What we do: the system
Before we touch an account, we set the plan: which channels, what budget, what a lead or a sale is worth to you, and what we test first.
Most paid traffic is lost on the page, not in the ad. We build or rework the page around one offer and one action, then keep improving it on real visitor behavior.
If the numbers are wrong, every optimization is a guess. We set up tracking that holds up against ad blockers and cookie limits, and send real outcomes back to the ad platforms.
With the plan, the page and the tracking in place, we build the campaigns and optimize them every week on real data.
You see sales, profit and lead quality, the numbers your business runs on, not clicks and impressions.
Once the system runs, the data shows where else you can grow. We bring you the ideas.

FAQ
Trials, if a buyer can reach value alone and the price fits a credit card. Demos, if your sales team has to qualify, configure or negotiate. Many SaaS companies run both, and we keep them in separate campaigns so each has its own target.
Yes. Google doesn't restrict trademarks as keywords, though it can restrict a rival's trademark in your ad text after a complaint. We buy the searches that show switching intent, such as alternatives and comparisons, and judge them on paying customers.
Not from paid conversions alone. We bid on an earlier step that predicts revenue, such as an activated trial or a qualified demo, and send later stages as secondary conversions until they have the volume to carry bidding.
From your CAC payback. We take what you can afford to pay per customer, convert it into a target cost per trial or demo, and size the budget so each campaign gets enough conversions to learn.
We run paid acquisition for SaaS: Google Ads, Meta Ads, tracking and the sign-up and demo pages. You work with the two founders, who run the campaigns themselves.
