E-commerce tracking & profit data
Octomize sets up ecommerce conversion tracking so GA4, Google Ads and Meta each record every order once, with the right value. We send purchases server-side through TAGGRS, connect Consent Mode v2 for shoppers in the EU and UK, and add profit data through ProfitMetrics, so bidding sees margin as well as revenue. We are an official partner of both TAGGRS and ProfitMetrics.
What's included
Each order should reach each platform once, with the same order ID and a value you chose on purpose: with or without tax, shipping and discounts. Google Ads drops a repeat conversion that carries a transaction ID it has already seen (Google Ads Help). Meta matches a browser Pixel event and a Conversions API event when the event name and event ID agree, and keeps one (Meta for Developers).
Shopify adds its own constraints. Tracking on checkout pages runs through custom pixels in a sandbox, where some pixel features don’t work (Shopify Help Center). The Google & YouTube app can send events straight to Google and skip your server container (TAGGRS docs), so we decide which route owns the purchase before building anything.
We run server-side tracking on TAGGRS. TAGGRS vs. a self-hosted GTM server compares the two setups. For shoppers in the EU and UK, Consent Mode v2 tells Google’s tags what the shopper agreed to; with the advanced setup the tags send cookieless pings when consent is denied (Google Ads Help).
Then we add margin. ProfitMetrics calculates profit per order and lets Google Ads and Meta optimize for it (ProfitMetrics). Why most brands get ROAS wrong explains the cost of skipping this step. For lead generation and non-store tracking, see our conversion tracking service.
Online stores selling in the United States, the United Kingdom and the EU, on Shopify, WooCommerce and other platforms.
How it works
We take a month of orders from Shopify or your store and compare them with what GA4, Google Ads and Meta recorded: missing orders, doubles, and values with or without tax and shipping.
We pick one source for the purchase event, remove apps and old scripts that fire it a second time, and fix the value definition you will bid on.
We route events through a TAGGRS server container, add the Meta Conversions API and enhanced conversions, and test with consent granted and denied.
When you have cost data, we connect ProfitMetrics so Google Ads and Meta receive gross profit per order, and we reset bidding targets to match.
What we do: the system
Before we touch an account, we set the plan: which channels, what budget, what a lead or a sale is worth to you, and what we test first.
Most paid traffic is lost on the page, not in the ad. We build or rework the page around one offer and one action, then keep improving it on real visitor behavior.
If the numbers are wrong, every optimization is a guess. We set up tracking that holds up against ad blockers and cookie limits, and send real outcomes back to the ad platforms.
With the plan, the page and the tracking in place, we build the campaigns and optimize them every week on real data.
You see sales, profit and lead quality, the numbers your business runs on, not clicks and impressions.
Once the system runs, the data shows where else you can grow. We bring you the ideas.

FAQ
Two tags often fire for the same order, such as Shopify's Google & YouTube app and a Tag Manager tag, or a shopper reloads the order status page. A transaction ID on each purchase lets Google Ads discard the second one. We find the duplicate source and remove it.
It pays off when ad blockers and browser limits cost you a visible share of purchases, or when you want control over what data leaves your site. On a small store with clean browser tracking we fix the basics first. We use TAGGRS, where we are an official partner.
You can connect GA4 through Shopify's Google & YouTube app or through Google Tag Manager with a data layer. Choose one route for the purchase event. Running both is a common cause of doubled revenue in GA4.
Shoppers who decline cookies send no ad cookies, so you see fewer observed purchases. With the advanced setup, Google tags send cookieless pings and Google Ads models part of what's missing. You still need a consent banner, because Consent Mode only passes the shopper's choice on.
Google Ads and Meta bid on the value you send them. ProfitMetrics sends gross profit per order instead of revenue, so a full-price order counts for more than a discounted one of the same size. We are an official ProfitMetrics partner.
