Give your agency access to WordPress

In WordPress, open Users › Add New User and create a login for your agency with its own email address. Choose Administrator if they install tracking or plugins, or Editor if they only edit pages. Never share your own password.

Steps

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin (yoursite.com/wp-admin).
  2. Open Users › Add New User.
  3. Enter a username and the email address your agency sent you.
  4. Tick Send the new user an email about their account.
  5. Choose the Role (see below).
  6. Click Add New User.

Which role to give

  • Administrator: needed to install plugins, add tracking code or change settings. Give it when the agency sets up tracking or a cookie banner.
  • Editor: can create and edit all pages and posts, but can’t install plugins. Enough for landing page work.

Our notes

  • One login per agency, never yours. A separate login shows who changed what, and you remove it in one click when the work ends.
  • Removing the agency later: in Users, hover over their user, click Delete, then choose Attribute all content to your own user. If you pick “Delete all content”, their pages go with them.
  • Hosting and DNS are separate. Some tracking setups need DNS access for domain verification. Your agency will ask if they do.
  • What happens next: we check page speed and what scripts already run before adding anything.
